Researchers from the ULPGC confirm that no net variation has been detected in the Atlantic Current in the last 30 years

The Atlantic Meridional Return Circulation has been evaluated from position 55ºN to 55ºS.

This current has a great effect on the European and global climate as it is one of its main regulation mechanisms.

The work is signed as the first signatory by Verónica Caínzos Díaz, from the Unidad Océano y Clima of the Instituto de Oceanografía y Cambio Global (IOCAG-ULPGC), together with the director of the institute, Alonso Hernández Guerra; Gerard McCarthy, from Maynooth University (Ireland); Elaine McDonagh, who works at the Norwegian Climate Research Center and the National Oceanographic Center in the UK; Melania Cubas Armas and María Dolores Pérez Hernández, from the Unidad Océano y Clima of the IOCAG-ULPGC.
