About
The main objective of the Unidad de Océano y Clima is to create a solid and competitive interdisciplinary oceanographic unit, with extensive experience in the areas of physical, biological, geological and chemical oceanography, including data analysis, modelling and instrumentation.
The partnership between IOCAG and ICM establishes a competitive multidisciplinary collaboration framework that will strengthen knowledge.Over the next few years, the Ocean and Climate Unit, as an associated unit, will develop the following lines of work:
- Study of the spatial coherence of the Canary Current, from Gibraltar to Cape Verde.
- Analysis of the evolution of the terrestrial climate through the study of the reincorporation of deep oceanic waters in the subtropical region of the North and South Atlantic Ocean.
- Study of carbon sequestration and its repercussion on climate change in the subtropical region of the North and South Atlantic Ocean.
- Doctoral program to promote the flow of highly qualified students between both institutions.
